Frequently asked questions

Most asked questions

The TimeFlies Spread trading results seem too good to be true. Are those real trades?

Yes - all results shown are real trades.

I maintain a dedicated Plenitude Trading brokerage account where TimeFlies Spreads are traded using one contract. The results page mirrors the trades taken in that account.

Trading statements are retained and can be provided (with sensitive information redacted) to verify any specific trade.

Update: I was asked to provide some trading statements, so I have made selected examples available here.

Do you have an alert service?

Not as a formal signal service.

I share my weekly TimeFlies Spread setup inside the Discord community so members can see how the strategy is applied in real time. The goal is to help you understand the process and become independent, rather than rely on trade alerts.

Many members initially mirror my trades for a short period, then quickly transition to structuring and managing their own variations.

When will you release courses for your experimental strategies?

Experimental strategies are exactly that - experiments. Some perform well; others do not. For transparency, I document the results as they develop.

I only create training for strategies that have been thoroughly stress-tested and that I personally have a high level of confidence trading.

Publishing results does not imply a course will be released, and some strategies may remain private.

I've heard selling naked options is risky. Is that what you're doing?

Selling naked options can carry substantial risk, particularly during volatility expansions.

All strategies taught here use defined-risk option structures. This limits the maximum theoretical loss per trade, although losses can still occur - trading always involves risk.

Can you recommend a broker for options trading?

I personally use Tastytrade and have had a good experience with them. You can open an account here.

Before choosing a broker, I recommend checking their margin requirements for index options and spread trades, as these can vary significantly.

Why did you switch from trading SPX to RUT?

Tastytrade increased the buying power requirement for short-term SPX calendar trades to $100,000 per contract, which I consider excessive given the defined-risk nature of the position.

Different brokers apply different risk models. Some restrict SPX trading, while others restrict RUT instead (for example, Schwab).

Always review your broker's margin requirements before deciding which product to trade.

Education

What do I need to know to trade TimeFlies Spreads?

TimeFlies Spreads are not overly complicated, but they are not beginner trades. You should already understand the fundamentals of options trading, including:

  • Calls vs puts
  • Strike prices and expirations
  • Long vs short options
  • Basic option Greeks (especially Delta and Theta)
  • Volatility and its impact on pricing

As with any skill, the more you understand, the easier trading becomes.

If you need to learn the basics, I recommend:

While my material is not designed as beginner options education, I'm always happy to answer questions if you get stuck. Email me at [email protected].

Do you offer 1-on-1 training or mentoring?

I currently offer 1-on-1 training to students who have purchased a course.

If this is something you're genuinely interested in, feel free to email me at [email protected] and we can discuss options.
